How are prayer, suhoor and iftar times calculated?
Updated: 2026-10-27
Prayer times follow the position of the sun. The fast begins at Fajr (imsak) and ends at Maghrib (iftar). Both change by a few minutes every day and depend on your latitude and longitude.
Why do websites differ by a minute or two?
Different authorities use different sun angles for Fajr and Isha, add safety margins and round minutes differently. Where an authority publishes its own tables (Diyanet in Turkey, JAKIM in Malaysia, Kemenag in Indonesia) this site shows those tables and names the source on the page. Elsewhere times are calculated with the method used in that country.
For religious rulings about fasting, follow your local religious authority.
